What is PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0?
The ‘’Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 ’’ is a life-changing housing project designed by the Central Government of India in 2016 aiming at providing an access to the urban residents to call a place to home by offering financial assistance for the construction of pucca houses in urban areas. As of now, more than 93.19 Lakh houses have already been constructed and delivered to beneficiaries. Under this housing scheme, the government approved a total of 2,34,864 new houses in nine States. Among the houses approved today under PMAY-U 2.0, more than 1.25 lakh houses have been sanctioned for the women alone, including single women and widows, ensuring empowerment of women. Meanwhile, 44 houses have been allotted to Transgenders. By offering this scheme the government aims to promote inclusiveness and social equity among different underprivileged groups with 42,400 houses allotted in name of for SC beneficiaries, 17,574 houses for ST beneficiaries and 1,13,414 for the OBC.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for PM Awas Yojana Jammu and Kashmir, applicant must have to meet the following eligibility criteria these are as follows:-
- Applicants must be a permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Applicants must not have their own house in the state.
- Applicants must belong to EWS, LIG, and MIG families in urban areas.
- Applicants must be a member of a lower middle-class family.
- Priority will be given to widows, single women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, transgenders, SC/ST individuals, minorities, and other vulnerable groups, including street vendors and construction workers.
- If a beneficiary’s parents received a pucca house from prior schemes, the beneficiary will only be considered after other eligible families.

- Provision of land patta/ rights to the landless by States/UTs.
- Geo-tag the construction stages of the house by beneficiaries.
- Release of instalment is linked to construction stage
- Free of cost statutory approvals, if needed
- Upgradation of Tenable Slums with housing and infrastructure.
- Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP):- EWS beneficiary to purchase/avail alloted houses in Apartment projects by public/ private sector agencies/ parastatal agencies.
- Redeemable Housing Vouchers for purchase of houses in whitelisted private sector projects.
- Various State Incentives to public/private projects.
- In-Situ Slum Redevelopment of Tenable Slums or Slum Resettlement.
- Affordable Rental Housing (ARH):-
- Model-1: Utilizing existing Government funded vacant houses by converting them into ARH under PPP mode or by public agencies.
- Model-2: Construct, Operate and Maintain rental housing by Private/Public Entities for urban poor, working women, employees of Industries, Industrial Estates, Institutions and other eligible EWS/LIG families.
- Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS):- Max. Loan value ₹25 lakh, Max. House Value ₹35 lakh
- 5 Yearly instalments of Loan subsidy.
- Annual household income: – EWS – up to ₹3 lakh – LIG – up to ₹6 lakh – MIG – up to ₹9 lakh.
