To fast-track verification of applications under the scheme and expedite the completion of already sanctioned houses under PMAY-U, Shri Manohar Lal, Honorable Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, has launched a last-mile outreach campaign known as Angikaar 2025 that will accelerate the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 by creating widespread awareness about the scheme across the state. Under this scheme, a total of 120 lakh houses have been sanctioned, out of which 94.11 lakh pucca houses have been completed already and delivered to beneficiaries. What is PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0?

This campaign involves a door-to-door awareness drive, community mobilization activities, and events, including camps, loan melas, and cultural programs to ensure broad participation of citizens in this project. These are expected to serve as a means for delivering scheme benefits convergence with other welfare programs and fostering citizen engagement by organising these camps at district headquarters and Municipal corporations in larger cities with an activity schedule in two phases, starting from September 17 to 27 to and October 16 to 31, respectively. To be eligible for PMAY-U, the applicant must have to meet the following eligibility criteria’s these are as mentioned below:-
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of India.
- Applicant must belong to EWS, LIG, and MIG families in urban areas.
- Applicant must not have their own house in the state.
- Applicant must be a member of a lower-middle-class family.
- Priority will be given to widows, single women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, transgenders, SC/ST individuals, minorities, and other vulnerable groups, including street vendors and construction workers.
