Angikaar 2025 Campaign Launched Under PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0

To fast-track verification of applications under the scheme and expedite the completion of already sanctioned houses under PMAY-U, Shri Manohar Lal, Honorable Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, has launched a last-mile outreach campaign known as Angikaar 2025 that will accelerate the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 by creating widespread awareness about the scheme across the state. Under this scheme, a total of 120 lakh houses have been sanctioned, out of which 94.11 lakh pucca houses have been completed already and delivered to beneficiaries. By offering this new campaign government aims to facilitate the completion of other remaining houses, aligning with the goal of housing for all. The scheme was revamped and launched as PMAY-U 2.0 in September 2024. Through the help of this scheme government aims to inform stakeholders about the credit risk guarantee funded trust for low-income housing (CRGFTLIH).

The main objective of this campaign is to strengthen the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana urban 2.0 by expanding application verification, facilitating completion of sanctioned houses, and informing beneficiaries about linked initiatives such as the credit risk guarantee fund trust for low-income housing, CRGFTLIH. What is PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0?

The “PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0” is a nationwide outreach program launched as a last mile awareness campaign Agnikaar to strengthen the implementation of this new version called Agnikaar by expenditing application verification facilitating competition of sanctioned houses and informing beneficiaries about link the initiative such as credit risk guarantee fund trust for low income housing CRGFTLIH, under its revamp in 2 September 2024 as PMAY-U 2.0 this is came targets financial support of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for an additional one crore urban families to construct or purchase pucca houses advancing the government goal of housing for all, ensuring the extension of the benefit of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and prioritizing the Housing needs of vulnerable groups identified under the urban housing mission. Under this scheme, a total of 120 lakh houses have been sanctioned, out of which 94.11 lakh pucca houses have been completed already and delivered to beneficiaries. This campaign involves a door-to-door awareness drive, community mobilization activities, and events, including camps, loan melas, and cultural programs to ensure broad participation of citizens in this project. These are expected to serve as a means for delivering scheme benefits convergence with other welfare programs and fostering citizen engagement by organising these camps at district headquarters and Municipal corporations in larger cities with an activity schedule in two phases, starting from September 17 to 27 to and October 16 to 31, respectively. According to the reports, Agnikaar 2025 will be effective from September 4 to October 31, 2025, across more than 5,000 urban local bodies(ULBs), ensuring that this campaign fulfils the government’s commitment to bridging the gap in implementation and insurance delivery of housing benefits to thousands of urban communities across the country India

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for PMAY-U, the applicant must have to meet the following eligibility criteria’s these are as mentioned below:-

• Applicant must be a permanent resident of India.
• Applicant must belong to EWS, LIG, and MIG families in urban areas. 
• Applicant must not have their own house in the state.
• Applicant must be a member of a lower-middle-class family.
• Priority will be given to widows, single women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, transgenders, SC/ST individuals, minorities, and other vulnerable groups, including street vendors and construction workers.

• Door to Door Awareness:- Under this scheme why dis spread door to door-to-door awareness will be spread across the country by other outreach media and community mobilization, featuring a lineup of camps, known melas, and cultural events designed to engage prospective beneficiaries and other related stakeholders to participate in the Jan Bhagidari movement.
• New Festival Unlock:- As an element of the campaign, PMAY-U Awas Divas will be celebrated on 17th September 2025 to mark the first year of launch of PMAY-U 2.0 in the country.
• Anchor Event:- An Anchor event named PM Awas Mela Shahri will be held at district headquarters in case of large cities the PM Awas Mela Shehri will be organized at the municipal corporation level this enjoy event will be conducted in two faces the first phase from 17th September 2025 to 27 September 2025 and the second phase will be any day between 16 October 2025 to 31st October 2025.
